Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of Marquel Gray (B/M, D.O.B. 08/17/1992) of 813 St. Louis Street in Raceland on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, for a residential burglary which had occurred the day prior.
A woman arrived at her Raceland home shortly before 10:00 P.M. on Monday, November 28 to find a B/M subject dressed in black in her living room. As the woman attempted to retrieve her personal firearm, she noticed the subject already had it in his possession and pointed it toward her. She immediately left the residence, but the subject followed her outside and then fled toward Ayo Street. The woman told deputies that her wallet had been taken, which contained her drivers license, birth certificate and Social Security card.
Through investigation, detectives learned the suspects name was Marquel Gray (a.k.a. Choot) and that he was located at his residence in Raceland. Deputies arrived at the residence at 813 St. Louis Street on Tuesday and arrested Gray without incident. He was initially brought to the Criminal Operations Center for questioning. He was then transferred to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux and booked with Aggravated Burglary and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He remains at the Detention Center in lieu of $200,000.00 bond as set by Judge John LeBlanc.
Gray had been on probation following his release from prison earlier this year for good behavior. In 2010, he pled guilty to Simple Burglary and had been sentenced to three years. Investigators believe he may also be responsible for other burglaries in the Raceland area.
