Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for a string of burglaries at a Galliano restaurant. The Kajun Twist Restaurant, located at 17972 Highway 1 in Galliano, has been burglarized three (3) times dating back to December 2011. Employees discovered the latest break-in when they reported to work Wednesday morning, January 11, 2012.
Deputies were dispatched to the Galliano restaurant on Wednesday to investigate. Upon arrival, deputies learned entry was made in the rear of the restaurant and into the storage room where food is kept. Among the items stolen were a 50-pound bag of peeled shrimp from the refrigerator, a bin of flour, and an air conditioner from a window. The subjects also dumped the contents of a garbage can into a chest freezer. In the December break-ins, other items such as cash, a microwave, and sheets of plywood were stolen. Aside from the cost of the items stolen, the owner has also paid several hundred dollars to have doors repaired following the break-ins.
The Kajun Twist has been a target of prior victimization over the last decade, said Sheriff Webre. We will be increasing our patrols around this area, and our detectives are actively pursuing any leads in these cases, but we need the publics help. Were asking anyone that has information about this burglary or any others to call Crime Stoppers so that we can bring these criminals to justice.
Anyone with information on any of these burglaries is asked to contact Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433 or by texting GIVEATIP plus your message to 274637. Information can also be submitted online at http://www.crimestoppersbr.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest.
