Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported deputies halted a marijuana sale and arrested three individuals found with over 150 gross grams of marijuana in their possession while riding around a Thibodaux subdivision. Blaize Gros (W/M, D.O.B. 05/06/90) of 102 Aglia Drive in Chackbay, Aaron Doucet (W/M, D.O.B. 08/11/93) of 157 W. 139th Street in Galliano, and Ingrid Brewer (W/F, D.O.B. 03/20/91) of 140 Neptune Lane in Grand Isle were all arrested and face drug charges stemming from the incident which took place on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
While on patrol in the Bayou Country Club Subdivision in Thibodaux early Wednesday morning, deputies noticed a vehicle traveling in a suspicious manner and initiated a traffic stop. Deputies made contact with the vehicle occupants identifying Gros as the driver, and Brewer, Doucet and Abigail Leblanc (W/F, D.O.B. 03/02/92) of 609 Evergreen Drive in New Iberia were passengers. Deputies noticed the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicles interior and noticed Leblanc and Doucet had bloodshot eyes and slowed speech. During a pat down search of the vehicle occupants, deputies located three plastic bags containing 31.4 gross grams of suspected marijuana on Doucets person. A K-9 Officer arrived on scene and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies recovered the following items throughout the interior: six plastic bags collectively containing 128.1 gross grams of suspected marijuana; a burnt marijuana cigarette; a plastic bag containing three suspected Diazepam (Valium) pills; a glass pipe with suspected burnt marijuana residue; and a second glass pipe.
Through investigation, deputies learned Brewer had arranged a meeting in order for Doucet to sell marijuana to Leblanc and that the four were riding around in an effort to smoke some of the marijuana prior to the purchase. Doucet allegedly sold a bag of marijuana to Leblanc while riding in the vehicle. Based on the investigation and the location of the items found in the vehicle, deputies placed Gros, Doucet and Brewer under arrest and transported them to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for booking. Leblanc was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana (1st Offense) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (1st Offense).
Gros was booked with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Diazepam without a Prescription, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2nd Offense). Gros was also charged with two counts of Accessory to the Distribution of Marijuana for driving the vehicle in which the purchase took place and attempting to evade police during the course of the transaction. He remains at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of $26,000.00 bond as set by Judge John E. Leblanc. Doucet was booked with Distribution of Marijuana and was released late Wednesday night after posting $2,500.00 bond. Brewer was booked with Accessory to the Distribution of Marijuana and was released Wednesday evening after posting $2,000.00 bond.
