Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for a string of vehicle burglaries in the South Lafourche area earlier this month.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office responded to a number of calls for vehicle break-ins last week. Detectives believe the burglaries occurred during the late night hours of Tuesday, June 12 through the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 13. In all, approximately 30 vehicles were reportedly burglarized in the Cut Off and Galliano areas along LA Highway 308 (East Main Street) and down several streets on the east side of Bayou Lafourche. Missing items included cash/coins, medication, and a few electronic devices.
In a situation such as this, it is evident that the criminal(s) were looking for the easy targets of vehicles left unlocked by their owners, said Sheriff Webre. In fact, most vehicles burglaries that have occurred in recent years involved vehicles that were left unlocked. That is why we want to remind residents that the simplest thing you can do to avoid becoming a victim is to lock your vehicle. While it wont guarantee you wont become a victim, it certainly serves as a theft deterrent.
Anyone with information on these burglaries is asked to contact Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433 or by texting GIVEATIP plus your message to 274637. Information can also be submitted online at http://www.crimestoppersbr.org or by using the TipSubmit Mobile application on your iPhone or Android device. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest.
