Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of a known felon after he was caught with drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop on Monday, October 29. Ricky J. Trosclair (W/M, D.O.B. 10/13/87) of 2861 Highway 1 in Raceland faces several new charges following Mondays arrest.
Through investigation, the Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force learned Trosclair possibly had drugs in his possession, and he also had an active warrant for his arrest for violation of parole and a suspended drivers license. At around 10:45 a.m. on Monday, narcotics agents spotted Trosclair driving a black Lincoln MKZ in the Raceland area. Agents initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and approached Trosclair, who initially gave agents a false identity. An officer from the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole was called to the scene and identified the driver as Ricky Trosclair. Agents then called a K-9 unit to the scene for a perimeter sweep of the vehicle, and the K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, agents discovered approximately eight grams of methamphetamine and over five grams of marijuana. Agents also located a handgun, $3,200 in cash and various drug paraphernalia.
Trosclair was placed under arrest and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on the parole violation warrant as well as charges of possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, and resisting an officer. He is currently being held without bond due to the parole violation.
Trosclairs criminal history includes 18 prior prison stays stemming from 11 prior arrests for various charges including drug charges, DWIs, several counts of contempt, and various motor vehicle violations.
