Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of a Thibodaux man for his fourth DWI offense and other charges. Kerril Breaux Jr. (W/M, D.O.B. 05/21/90) of 1213 Park Drive was arrested following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.
At around 4:45 pm on Wednesday, December 12, deputies responded to LA Highway 308 just south of the Raceland area in reference to a truck being operated recklessly, forcing other vehicles off the roadway. Deputies located the truck headed northbound on LA 308 and noticed it was following another vehicle too closely. Deputies then noticed the truck pull into a driveway off of Wolf Street, and they pulled in behind the truck. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Kerril Breaux Jr., deputies noticed his speech to be slurred, and he had a slight odor of an alcoholic beverage being emitted from his breath. Breaux then submitted to a Standardized Field Sobriety Test on which he performed poorly. A K-9 officer then arrived on scene to assist, and the K-9 alerted to the possible presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a subsequent vehicle search, deputies discovered 21.5 suspected Klonopin pills.
Breaux was arrested for DWI (4th offense), following too closely and possession of Klonopin (Schedule IV) with intent to distribute. He submitted to a breathalyzer test which showed he had a blood alcohol content of 0.077g%. He also submitted to a urinalysis, and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where is being held in lieu of $100,050.
