Agents Arrest Pharmacy Worker and Husband Found with over 300 Pills and Other Drugs

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a pharmacy employee and her husband after they were found with over 300 pills, marijuana and methamphetamine. On Friday, January 11, narcotics agents arrested Tiffany Pitre Dufrene (W/F, D.O.B. 01/10/72) and her husband Darren Dufrene (W/M, D.O.B. 08/07/73), both of 314 Aspen Drive in Raceland, in the culmination of a narcotics investigation.

The Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force had been investigating Dufrene in reference to suspected illegal practices with prescription medications while working at Pitre’s Pharmacy in Larose. During the course of the investigation, agents had obtained a warrant for Tiffany Dufrene’s arrest for distribution of liquid codeine, as well as a search warrant for her residence. On Friday, agents were conducting surveillance on Dufrene as she was driving northbound on LA Highway 308 and initiated a traffic stop. At that time, agents placed Dufrene under arrest as per the active warrant and transported her to her residence to execute the search warrant. Her husband, Darren Dufrene, was present at the residence, and agents also obtained permission to search their vehicles. The subsequent searches resulted in the following amounts of suspected drugs being recovered: 1.3 gross grams of high grade marijuana; 1.2 gross grams of methamphetamine; 84 Soma (carisoprodol) pills; 56 hyrdocodone pills; 49 Xanax (alprazolam) pills; 6.5 diazepam pills; 6 Adipex pills; 2 Suboxone pills; crushed amounts of Vyvanse; a bottle of liquid hyrdrocodone; and a large number of other pills requiring prescriptions. Agents also recovered four firearms and various drug paraphernalia. Dufrene told agents she had did not have a valid prescription for any of the medications.

Both were booked with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, hydrocodone, alprazolam, carisoprodol, legend drug, and drug paraphernalia. They were also each booked with illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Tiffany Dufrene was additionally booked with six counts of unlawfully prescribing, distributing, dispensing or assisting in the illegal obtaining of a controlled dangerous substance, as well as possession of Adipex, Suboxone and Vyvanse. She was also booked as per the warrant for distribution of liquid codeine.

Both Tiffany and Darren Dufrene were released on Saturday after posting bonds of $82,750 and $14,750, respectively.
