Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported two men were charged with drug possession after trespassing on private property where a K-9 officer training was underway. Andrew Johnlouis (B/M, D.O.B. 09/30/79) of 415 Highway 20 in Schriever and Charles Craig (B/M, D.O.B. 04/12/91) of 127 Fairlane Drive in Gray each face charges following the incident which occurred in Thibodaux.
On Tuesday night, February 19, K-9 deputies were conducting a training exercise on the property of Lafourche Sugar, LLC in Thibodaux when deputies noticed a vehicle with two male subjects pass their location heading toward a pond on the privately-owned property. Security officers at the mill informed deputies that the occupants of the vehicle did not have permission to be on the property. Deputies then made contact with the subjects and informed them they were trespassing on private property. A K-9 deputy then performed a perimeter sweep of the vehicle and alerted to the possible presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. Upon searching the interior of the vehicle, deputies discovered a bag containing several rocks of suspected crack cocaine which Johnlouis said belonged to him. Deputies also found Craig to be in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana.
Johnlouis was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and trespassing, and he was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He was released Wednesday morning after posting $5,100 bond as set by Judge Walter Lanier III. Craig was issued a criminal summons for possession of marijuana and trespassing.
