Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Raceland man in reference to a burglary and theft that occurred in May. Deputies arrested Marquel Gray (B/M, D.O.B. 08/17/92) of 813 St. Louis Street on two active warrants Wednesday evening.
On May 17, deputies responded to a residence on Peps Lane in Raceland in reference to several stolen items including an off-road motorcycle (dirt bike), an electric mini bike, and a shotgun which had been stolen from the resident’s shed. Through investigation, detectives developed Marquel Gray as a suspect in the incident and eventually obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Then on Wednesday, June 19, Bicycle Patrol deputies spotted Gray standing just off Emerald Street in Raceland. Deputies made contact with Gray and he was taken into custody without incident.
Gray was transported and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on warrants for simple burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. He is being held in lieu of $30,000 bond as set by the warrants.
Grays criminal history includes seven arrests, mostly for similar burglary crimes and drug possession. His first arrest occurred seven days after his 17th birthday. He most recently spent 19 days in jail for an incident in February where he refused to stop when a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop for improper lane usage and he was also found to be driving without a license.
