Shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, June 14, deputies responded to Greenville Street in Raceland after receiving multiple calls about a man with a gun. Through investigation conducted at the scene, deputies learned two women and two children were traveling in a car on Greenville Street when Scotty Poindexter (B/M, D.O.B. 07/21/89) of 548 Greenville Street flagged the car down. After a brief exchange of words, Poindexter allegedly retrieved a pistol he was carrying, and the women sped away. As they did so, Poindexter pointed the gun at the vehicle. The women dropped off the children they were traveling with and returned to Greenville Street a short time later. At that time, Poindexter ran towards their vehicle and pointed the pistol at the two women again. The women again sped away arriving safely at their residence. Deputies obtained a warrant for Poindexters arrest on six counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and he turned himself in to authorities on Monday, June 24. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on Monday and was subsequently released after posting $3,500 bond as set by the warrant.
