Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office has scheduled two additional Hunter Education Field Days this summer for those taking the states online Hunter Safety Course. The combination of completing the online course and attending a Field Day is designed as an alternative to taking the traditional two-day Hunter Safety Course. Successful completion of one of the Hunter Safety Courses is required to obtain a hunting license in Louisiana for all those born after September 1, 1969.
The first Hunter Education Field Day will be held on Tuesday, July 30, and the second will be held on Tuesday, August 20. The Field Days will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the LPSO Shooting Range, located at 3451 Highway 182 in Raceland. Students MUST complete the online Home Study Course through the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website and present the completion voucher to attend. Entry will be denied unless completed forms are presented. There will be a written test required to complete the Field Day. Students should NOT bring firearms or ammunition, but snacks are permitted.
Field Day attendance is FREE, but advance registration is required and only available online through the Wildlife and Fisheries website. (NOTE: links to online registration can be found by CLICKING HERE.)
