On Friday, July 26, agents with the Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force and Probation and Parole were attempting to locate Dillon Toups (W/M, D.O.B. 11/14/89) of 1936 Highway 654 in Gheens due to an active warrant for probation violation. Toups was discovered sitting in his vehicle on Hyland Drive in Gheens. Agents made contact with Toups and took him into custody without incident. Toups was found to have a small bag in his possession which contained a small amount of suspected methamphetamine. Toups was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and booked with possession of methamphetamine and as per the warrant. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bond for possession of methamphetamine, but he is also being held without bond for Probation and Parole as per the warrant.
During the early morning hours of Saturday, July 27, deputies responded to a disturbance at a bar on Palmisano Drive in Bayou Blue. Deputies learned Shawn Meier (W/M, D.O.B. 11/04/89) of 211 St. Agnes Drive in Bourg had entered the bar and immediately began punching another man several times using brass knuckles. Deputies began searching the area for Meier, and he was found walking on a nearby street. As a deputy attempted to place Meier under arrest, Meier pulled away, struck the deputy in the chest, and fled the scene on foot. Deputies later discovered Meier standing outside the same bar and took him into custody. When questioned why he had committed the battery, Meier told deputies it was due to the victim making advances toward his girlfriend. He was transported to the Detention Center where he was booked with aggravated second degree battery, battery of a police officer, and resisting an officer. He is being held in lieu of $27,500 bond, and is also being held for Probation and Parole due to a parole violation.
During the early morning hours of Saturday, July 27, deputies responded to a Raceland residence in the 2700 block of LA Highway 1 in reference to a man who had pulled a gun on another man during an argument. Through investigation at the scene, deputies learned Chase Estay (W/M, D.O.B. 07/04/88) of 3574 Highway 24 in Liberty, Mississippi had been in an argument with another man, and Estay left the premises. Estay later returned and the verbal argument resumed. At one point, Estay pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the other man. This led to a physical altercation between the two men, during which Estay allegedly struck the other man in the face with the firearm. Estay, who was still on scene when deputies had arrived, was placed under arrest and transported to the Detention Center. He was booked with aggravated second degree battery and aggravated assault. He was released on Saturday afternoon after posting $10,000 bond.
Chase Poindexter (B/M, D.O.B. 11/20/82) of 471 St. Phillip Street in Raceland turned himself in to authorities at the Detention Center late Sunday night, July 28. Poindexter had several active warrants for his arrest stemming from a June 14 incident wherein he allegedly broke into ex-girlfriends residence on Williams Street in Raceland. Upon entering the residence, he began damaging several items in the interior of the home, as well as the structure itself. He also damaged vehicles parked in front the home before leaving the scene. Deputies obtained warrants for Poindexters arrest following an investigation, and he eventually turned himself in on Sunday. As per warrants, Poindexter was booked with home invasion, felony simple criminal damage to property, and entering/remaining after being forbidden, and he is being held in lieu of $45,000 bond on those charges. He was also charged with a parole violation and is additionally being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole.
