Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced rewards are being offered in multiple shoplifting crimes which occurred at department stores in Lafourche Parish. Several items of electronic merchandise were stolen in each incident.
On July 22, deputies responded to shoplifting complaints at the Walmart store located at 16759 Highway 3235 in Galliano. Through investigation, investigators learned that on July 19, a male subject stole six (6) computer tablets after prying open a locked case in the electronics section of the store. Detectives also learned the same male subject returned to the store on July 22 and stole six (6) laptop computers after severing a locking mechanism on the area where the laptops were kept. Based on surveillance photos, the subject is believed to be a middle-aged man who was driving a white pickup truck.
In another separate incident, on Tuesday, August 13, deputies responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Walmart store located at 4858 Highway 1 in Raceland in reference to a shoplifting complaint. Store employees indicated they discovered empty packages which had contained various items of electronic merchandise. Detectives learned the subject was captured by surveillance cameras, and they are now attempting to identify him based on that footage.
Detectives are asking for the publics help to solve these crimes.
