Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for an alleged hit and run that occurred earlier this month in South Lafourche.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, deputies responded to LA Highway 308 near the intersection with East 172nd Street in Galliano after receiving a call that a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle. Lafourche Ambulance District #1 also responded to the scene and eventually transported to the male victim to the hospital for treatment. Deputies learned the man was riding his bicycle on the shoulder of the highway when a southbound vehicle allegedly struck him and his bicycle. The vehicle is described as being dark in color and either a medium-sized sport-utility vehicle or car.
Deputies are asking anyone who can identify the suspect, or anyone with information on this case, to contact Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433 or by texting GIVEATIP plus your message to 274637.
