Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a Highway Safety Checkpoint in Lafourche Parish during the daylight hours of Thursday, April 3. Deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, expired inspection tags, expired/suspended driver's licenses, and other violations.
This checkpoint is part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office's year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.
A total of 136 vehicles passed through the last Highway Safety Checkpoint which occurred on the northbound lane of LA Highway 3185 in Thibodaux on Wednesday, March 26. With the assistance of officers from the Thibodaux Police Department, LPSO deputies reported the following violations:
- 3 expired motor vehicle inspection stickers
- 2 seat belt violations
