Three Fugitives with Multiple Outstanding Warrants Arrested

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of three fugitives with multiple outstanding warrants. Narcotics agents arrested Timothy Matherne Jr. (27, W/M) of Thibodaux and Justin Theriot (26, W/M) of Raceland in the northern area of the parish on Tuesday night, and Tyronne Cheramie (43, W/M) of Golden Meadow was arrested in the South Lafourche area on Wednesday night.

Timothy Matherne Jr. had 17 outstanding warrants for Contempt of Court stemming from various charges in prior incidents including battery, theft, animal cruelty, property damage, drug possession, and traffic violations. He was also wanted for Aggravated Flight from an Officer stemming from a December incident wherein he refused to comply with patrol deputies attempting a traffic stop, and eventually fled into a heavily wooded area. Deputies were unable to locate him at that time. Then on Tuesday night, January 27, Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force Agents proceeded to the Thibodaux area near the Bowie Fire Company station after obtaining intelligence on Matherne’s location. Upon arrival, agents discovered two other men, Justin Theriot and Ivan Galliano (25, W/M) of Lockport, were also at that location. With the assistance of K-9 and patrol deputies, agents initially found Matherne hiding under a shed. Realizing he was discovered, Matherne jumped into Bayou Lafourche and swam across to the west bank of the bayou. He then climbed out of the bayou and fled on foot, but agents eventually took him into custody. He was charged with Resisting an Officer and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on the 18 outstanding warrants. He remains in jail in lieu of $153,000 bond as set by Judge John. E. Leblanc.

Meanwhile, Theriot was found to have active warrants in Iberville Parish for Theft and Criminal Trespassing, and he was taken into custody. He was initially transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux and transferred to Iberville parish on Wednesday afternoon. Galliano was found in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and he was issued a criminal summons for those charges.

Then late Wednesday night, agents learned Tyronne Cheramie was located in a casino in Galliano. Cheramie had two outstanding warrants for Distribution of Methamphetamine. Agents confirmed Cheramie’s location and he was taken into custody without incident. He was found in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun. He was transported to the Detention Center where he was booked on the aforementioned warrants as well as Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. He is being held in lieu of $91,000 bond as set by Judge Christopher J. Boudreaux and the warrants. He is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole.
