Sheriff Craig Webre announced detectives are investigating an armed robbery which occurred Friday evening at the Stage department store located at 4560 Highway 1 in Raceland. Witnesses say an unknown black male subject entered the store Friday evening, grabbed several shirts off store racks, then proceeded to the cashier where he produced a handgun and demanded all the money in the register. The suspect then fled the scene with the merchandise and cash. Investigators are currently searching for the suspect described as a black male subject, approximately 6’0” tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing black pants, a black jacket and a black beanie hat. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 532-2255.
