Employee Charged with Sexual Battery of a Juvenile

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the dismissal and arrest of a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office employee late Friday night. Trent Barrilleaux (age 29) of Thibodaux was terminated and arrested upon admitting to committing sexual battery on a juvenile.
On Thursday, February 4, a complaint was filed with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to the juvenile. Detectives questioned Barrilleaux in reference to the case, and he admitted to inappropriate sexual contact with the juvenile on multiple occasions. He was arrested late Friday night on two counts of Sexual Battery (Forcible Fondling) and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. His bond was set at $100,000.
Sheriff Craig Webre stated, “The announcement of this arrest comes with much dismay and utter disappointment, but we have always been upfront with the public in matters such as this. We want to assure the public and the family of the victim that we will do our part to ensure this individual will be held accountable for his egregious actions.”

Barrilleaux’s employment with the Sheriff’s Office lasted more than six years and officially ended upon his arrest. He had been assigned as a Mechanic in Fleet Operations, but he has also worked as a bailiff and patrol deputy.
