Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced an investigation is continuing into the death of 56-year-old Toni Pitre of Cut Off. Shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, deputies responded to Pitre’s East 25^th Street residence after she was found unresponsive. She was discovered to have a single bullet wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. A revolver was found in close proximity to the body. Detectives say there are no obvious signs of a struggle or forced entry, but they are still investigating the case.
