Deputies Find Marijuana, Methamphetamine and Cocaine During Traffic Stop

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Ronald Johnson (age 57) of Lockport on Wednesday, May 4. Just before 6 p.m., deputies near the intersection of Buford Street and Ayo Street in Raceland noticed a car with a motor vehicle inspection sticker which had been expired for more than a year. As deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, it continued through a stop sign before finally coming to a stop. The driver was identified as Ronald Johnson, and during a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered a bag containing suspected cocaine near the driver’s seat. He was also found to have suspected marijuana and methamphetamine on his person, as well as drug paraphernalia. Deputies also discovered the license plate on the vehicle he was driving had been switched with another vehicle. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with Possession of Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Marijuana (2nd Offense), and Drug Paraphernalia, as well as a stop sign violation, switched plates, and expired motor vehicle inspection. His bond was set at $20,900.
