Investigators Seek to Identify Suspects in Metal Theft

Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of persons associated with the theft of scrap metal from a welding and fabrication business in Thibodaux. Detectives are investigating multiple instances of theft which were reported on March 31, April 29, and May 3. In each instance, scrap metal was stolen from the business. Investigators believe individuals are stealing the metal to sell to scrapyards for cash. Surveillance cameras were able to catch a male and female suspect stealing metal and loading it into a pickup truck. Anyone who can identify the suspects, or anyone with any other information on these crimes, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Bayou Region at 1-800-743-7433 or by texting “GIVEATIP” plus your message to 274637.
