Larose Woman Arrested for Stealing a Relative’s Credit Card and Checks for Purchases

Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of Lacie Cheramie (age 34) of Larose on Friday, August 19. Deputies responded to a complaint in Larose on Friday in reference to Lacie Cheramie allegedly stealing checks from a relative. Upon arrival and through investigation, deputies learned Cheramie also had used the victim’s credit card three weeks prior and made over $1,000 in unauthorized charges before giving the card back to the victim. Investigators made contact with Cheramie and she admitted to making the charges, saying she intended to pay her relative back, but she had made no attempt to do so by that time. Cheramie further admitted to taking several checks from the relative and using them to make purchases at a local store. Investigators later determined she had forged seven checks with a total amount of purchases at nearly $1,000. After questioning, Cheramie was placed under arrest and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. She was booked with seven (7) counts of Forgery, Unauthorized Use of an Access Card as Theft, and Misdemeanor Theft. Her bond is set at $11,000.
