Two Cut Off Men Arrested for Drug Possession Also Face Burglary Charges

Sheriff Craig Webre announced two men arrested on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Cut Off also face burglary charges in a separate incident. Chene Guidry (age 27) and Joshua Bourgeois (age 35), both of Cut Off, were arrested in connection with the incidents.

Just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound on LA Highway 1 in the area of West 108th Street in Cut Off. Deputies made contact with the driver and identified him as Chene Guidry who had two active warrants for Contempt of Court, as well as a suspended license. Guidry was immediately taken into custody. Meanwhile, deputies made contact with the passenger and identified him as Joshua Bourgeois. Deputies observed a small bag believed to contain illegal narcotics, as well as drug paraphernalia, inside the vehicle. The bag was later determined to contain suspected synthetic marijuana. During a search of the vehicle, deputies also found a liquid prescription drug containing Codeine and a total of four (4) pills of two (2) types of drugs only available by prescription. Bourgeois was also found to have suspected marijuana and methamphetamine on his person.

Both were arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Both were charged with Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts of Possession of a Legend Drug. Guidry was additionally booked with Possession of Synthetic Marijuana, driving under suspension, and improper vehicle lighting, as well as the two counts of contempt. Bourgeois was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana (2nd Offense) and Possession of Methamphetamine.

Meanwhile, detectives had been investigating a burglary case since August 24 wherein several power tools, valued collectively at over $1,000, were stolen from a Cut Off warehouse. Following an investigation, Guidry and Bourgeois were identified as suspects in the investigation. Each was additionally charged with a single count of Simple Burglary of an Immovable Structure.

Bourgeois was released on Saturday, September 3, after posting $21,300 bond. Guidry remains at the Detention Center, and his bond is set at $104,600. He has also been ordered to pay $250 in fines and costs per the contempt warrants.
