Couple Caught with Heroin and Methamphetamine Outside a Raceland Pharmacy

Sheriff Craig Webre announced Garrett Sheets (age 32) of Bourg and Kendra Morris (age 28) of Houma were arrested Wednesday, September 14, after they were found in possession of illegal narcotics just outside a Raceland pharmacy.

At around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, agents with the Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force were parked just outside a Raceland pharmacy when they observed a woman return to a vehicle. They then observed the male driver toss something to the ground, and they approached the vehicle to address the littering violation. Upon their arrival to the vehicle, they immediately noticed the male, later identified as Garrett Sheets, to have a spoon and syringes in his hand – paraphernalia commonly associated with heroin use. Agents ordered Sheets not to move, but he began attempting to conceal the paraphernalia. Agents removed him from the vehicle, and in doing so, they noticed a clear plastic bag containing a white substance on the floorboard of the vehicle. When agents questioned Sheets about the items in the vehicle, he admitted the substance on the floorboard was heroin, and he also admitted to having a small amount of Methamphetamine inside the vehicle, along with various drug paraphernalia. Agents also discovered a bag from the pharmacy, inside of which was 18 syringes which Morris had just purchased. Additionally, agents observed a juvenile inside the vehicle and learned Morris was approximately four months pregnant.

Sheets and Morris were arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. They were both booked with Possession of Heroin, Methamphetamine, and Drug Paraphernalia, as well as Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of Persons under 17. Their bond amounts are set at $8,000 each, but Sheets was also found to have 13 active warrants in Terrebonne Parish for failure to appear in court for a myriad of charges including aggravated battery, domestic abuse battery, burglary, and criminal damage to property. His bond is set at $511,500 for the Terrebonne Parish charges.

The juvenile was turned over to the custody of relatives.
