Thibodaux Woman and Boyfriend Steal from Her Elderly Relative

Sheriff Craig Webre announced deputies arrested a Thibodaux couple for stealing from an elderly resident. Lance Gros (age 32) and Crystal Fonseca (age 35), both of Thibodaux, both face charges stemming from the incident. The victim was Fonseca’s relative.

On the morning of Wednesday, November 30, an elderly Thibodaux resident reported the theft of items from her residence located in the 1000 block of LA Highway 1. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim who indicated she noticed several items had gone missing around her house over the past several weeks, including pieces of jewelry valued at several thousand dollars. On two occasions in the past week, the victim noticed a side door to the residence had been left open, but she initially thought she left it open by mistake.

Through investigation, detectives developed the victim’s relative, Crystal Fonseca, as a suspect along with her boyfriend, Lance Gros. Detectives made contact with Fonseca and Gros, and during questioning, both admitted to their involvement in the crimes. Detectives learned the two burglarized the home on two occasions with Gros serving as a lookout while Fonseca stole the items. On a third occasion, Fonseca stole jewelry while visiting the residence.

Fonseca and Gros were both transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Fonseca was booked with two counts of Simple Burglary and Thefts of Assets of an Elderly Person. Her bond is set at $15,000. Gros was booked with two counts of Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, and he was also found to have an active warrant for Contempt of Court for Thibodaux City Court. His bond is set at $16,000.
