Suspect Arrested for Burglary, Theft and Other Charges in Both Lafourche and Terrebonne

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter announced a Schriever man has been arrested in connection to separate incidents on Monday, December 19. Jereamie Brunet Jr. (age 23) faces charges including burglary, theft and criminal trespassing in the incidents.

On Monday afternoon, deputies of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint at a residence in the 2200 block of Bayou Blue Road. Upon arrival, they learned a male suspect had burglarized a residence and then began tampering with a door to another residence before being confronted by the homeowner. The subject fled on foot in the direction of Marlbrough Drive. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to assist in locating the suspect, and at around 5:45 p.m., deputies received a call about a suspicious person on Marlbrough Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found the homeowner had detained the suspect after she caught him wearing her son’s letterman jacket. Deputies made contact with the suspect, identified as Jeramie Brunet Jr., who immediately began resisting deputies upon their arrival. He was detained and also found to have frozen food items which had been stolen from a freezer outside the residence. Deputies also learned he had entered the residence without authorization as well. Through further investigation, deputies in Terrebonne Parish identified Brunet as the suspect in the other incident earlier in the day and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Brunet was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Resisting an Officer, and Theft. His bond is set at $52,000, and he is also being held for Terrebonne Parish for charges of Simple Burglary and Criminal Trespassing.
