Involvement with State and
National Sheriff’s
Associations
Sheriff Webre is an active
member of the Louisiana
Sheriffs' Association (LSA)
and has also served as a
Board Member of the
Louisiana Sheriff's Pension
and Relief Fund. He has
served on numerous
committees, testified before
the legislature and
participated as a liaison
between the Louisiana and
National Sheriffs'
Associations.
Sheriff Webre is a strong
supporter of the
technological advancements
that are required by modern
day law enforcement
officers. To that end, he
has served on LSA's
Technical Advisory Committee
and ARMMS Sub-Committee,
offering the Lafourche
Parish Sheriff's Office (LPSO)
to be used as a beta test
site for both the LUCR/LIBRS
and ARMMS projects.
Additional committee work
provided him an opportunity
to offer his assistance in
the fields of Tax Law,
Pretrial Intervention and
Legislative Committees.
Over the years, he has
proven that his education
and position as an attorney
provides the perfect
combination for lobbying on
behalf of LSA before the
legislature. Recently,
efforts to have Louisiana
Constitutional Amendment 6
put before voters proved a
huge success as its passage
now guarantees supplemental
pay for uniformed officers.
Sheriff Webre has also
served on the LSA's Sex
Offender Registry Committee.
Knowledge gained from this
committee assisted Sheriff
Webre in preparing and
instituting the LPSO's Sex
Offender Accountability
Program (S.O.A.P.). This
program is designed to
ensure that offenders comply
with sex offender registry
laws through a system of
ongoing compliance checks
during which an extensive
database of information is
compiled and offered to
local citizens as a form of
educational awareness. This
program was presented at the
2005 LSA conference.
Additionally, he is a member
of the LSA's Honorary
Membership Program which
provides yearly scholarships
and services to the youth of
Lafourche Parish. He also
strives to assist the LSA's
Violent Crime and Narcotics
Task Force and Education
Project, as well as the
LSA's Emergency Task Force
by deploying officers to
assist with specific state
operations.
As an active member of the
National Sheriffs'
Association, Sheriff Webre
was elected to the position
of Sergeant At Arms in
2001. Since that time, he
has represented the NSA on
numerous panels and boards
to include:

Sheriff Webre also serves on

Operations, Crime
Prevention/Private Security
and Domestic Violence
Committees. At the recent
2005 Conference, Sheriff
Webre received the Crime
Victim Services Award for
his proactive stance taken
in the field of Domestic
Violence.
Additionally, Sheriff Webre,
in his capacity as an
attorney and in conjunction
with the NSA, was admitted
to practice before the U.S.
Supreme Court.
