Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a Highway Safety Checkpoint in Lafourche Parish during the daylight hours of Wednesday, June 4. Deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, expired inspection tags, expired/suspended driver's licenses, and other violations.
This checkpoint is part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office's year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.
A total of 139 vehicles passed through the last Highway Safety Checkpoint conducted along the eastbound lane of LA Highway 24 in the Larose area on Wednesday, May 28. During the checkpoint, deputies reported the following violations:
- 1 expired motor vehicle inspection sticker
- 1 NO motor vehicle inspection sticker
- 2 seat belt violations
