Information TechnologyLieutenant Shannon Delatte, Director
The Information Technology staff is responsible for maintaining our vast array of computers and telecommunications equipment, including the desktop computers, laptop computers, in-car computers, servers, and software that make up the LPSO Computer network. This includes approximately 350 workstations and 30 servers at various locations throughout the parish. They are constantly evaluating the latest in cutting-edge technology for implementation at the agency. More commonly known as "I.T.," the staff monitors all connectivity between agency offices to assure continued access to all LPSO services.
The I.T. staff administers to the Law Enforcement Data System, also known as "LEDS." Adopted by the agency in 2009, the "ledsSuite" software developed by Zuercher Technologies includes Computer-Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Jail Management, Civil Process Tracking, Agency Administration, Reporting, and much more.
It is now also being used by the other law enforcment entities in Lafourche Parish, including Thibodaux Police, Lockport Police, Golden Meadow Police, and Port Fourchon Harbor Police. This makes Lafourche Parish one of the ONLY areas of the country to have all area law enforcement using a single system to share information, which has proven to be a valuable tool when investigating many different types of crimes. Moreover, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office works side-by-side with Zuercher Technologies providing feedback and suggestions on a weekly basis to help improve the software for user agencies nationwide.
I.T. maintains a mass-call-type system which notifies parish residents of any problems or activities that may be occurring which have an adverse effect on their area, including anything from crime alerts, road closures or even the flushing of water lines. This system is also used to make phone calls for the R U OK program three times each day.
