Sheriff Craig Webre has announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a Bullseye Shooting Match in May as a fundraiser for the shooting range. The competition will be held on Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the LPSO Range Facility located at 3451 Highway 182 in Raceland.

Match participants will test their skills on a course comprised of a total of 30 rounds fired at a target at a distance of 25 yards:
  • Five rounds in three minutes (twice)
  • Five rounds in 20 seconds (twice)
  • Five rounds in 10 seconds (twice)
Each participant will complete this course three times, and the average score of the 3 courses will be the final score. The highest achievable score for each round is 300 points.

This competition is for double-action or single-action semi-automatic pistols and revolvers with calibers of .38, .40, .45, .357, and 9mm, and a barrel length of six (6) inches or less. Fixed or adjustable sights may be used, but no laser sights will be allowed. Participants must supply their own guns and ammunition, as well as eye and ear protection, which are required to participate.

The entry fee for the event is $20. All proceeds will help fund improvements at the LPSO Shooting Range. The winner of the competition will receive a $250 gift certificate from Tri-Parish Police Supply in Houma. Second place will receive a one-year membership to the LPSO Shooting range ($100 value), and third place will receive a Tipton gun vice donated by Houma Auto Parts and Gun Shop.
