As Lafourche Parish's only long term holding facility, it serves as the jail for Lafourche parish and for the municipalities of Thibodaux, Lockport, and Golden Meadow. The facility also houses inmates that are arrested by the Louisiana State Police, the state Probation and Parole office, Wildlife and Fisheries, the Harbor Police and various federal law enforcement agencies including the FBI and the U.S. Immigration Service. The Detention Center Provides meals to inmates and the Head Start Program.
