Concealed Handgun Course
Offered*
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will be
offering a Concealed Handgun Training Course on Saturday, November 15, 2008.
Class will be from 8:00AM until noon at the National Guard Armory located at
751 Goode Street in Thibodaux and from 1:00PM until finish
at the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office Training Range on Highway 182, in
Raceland. The course will include the
following:
a. One hour of instruction on handgun nomenclature and safe handling
procedures of a revolver and semi-automatic pistol.
b. One hour of instruction on ammunition knowledge and fundamentals of
pistol shooting.
c. Three hours of instruction on the use of deadly force and conflict
resolution, which will include a review of R.S. 14:18 through 14:22 and
which may include a review of any other laws relating to the use of deadly
force.
d. One hour of instruction on handgun shooting positions.
e. One hour of instruction on child access prevention.
f. Two hours of actual live range fire and proper handgun
cleaning procedures.
g. Live range fire shall include 12 rounds each at 6 feet, 10 feet,
and 15 feet for a total of 36 rounds.
h. Each applicant or permittee must perform at least one safe reload
of the handgun at each distance.
i. Each applicant or permittee must score 100% hits within the
silhouette portion of a NRA B-27 type silhouette target with at least 36
rounds.
The cost is $110. Seniors 65 and over is

The radKIDS®
Personal Empowerment Safety Education Program is a 7 1/2 hour family
centered safety education program that emphasizes essential
decision-making skills as well as physical resistance options to
escape violence. Children from 5-12 years of age participate in the
program with their adult partners to create a true safety

R.A.D.-Rape Agression Defense
The
Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic
self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is
a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness,
prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on
to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial
Arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D.
Instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference
manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for
reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free
lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates. The
