About the Program

The  Lafourche Parish Warrant Amnesty Settlement Period (WASP) allows the parish criminal justice system to resolve warrants proactively while affording citizens the opportunity to make payments and avoid arrest. Most misdemeanor warrants will be eligible for amnesty and may be satisfied by paying fines, fees and costs associated with the warrant. If making a payment during the amnesty period, the bench warrant fee of $150 will be waived.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Where can I pay my fine?
A: During the amnesty period (June 2-30, 2014), fines and fees can be paid at four LPSO locations.
These locations will collect 24 hours per day, 7 days per week:
  • Lafourche Parish Detention Center - 952 Highway 3185, Thibodaux
  • South Lafourche Sub-station - 102 West 91st Street, Cut Off
These locations will accept payments from during regular office hours (8am to 5pm) on weekdays ONLY:
  • Administrative Office - 200 Canal Boulevard, Thibodaux
  • Criminal Operations Center - 805 Crescent Avenue, Lockport

Q: How can I pay my fines and fees?
A: Fines and fees may be paid by cash or money order at all aforementioned locations. Payments can be made by check if you are a Lafourche Parish resident and the warrant is not related to an NSF check. Payments can be made by credit or debit card at all locations EXCEPT the Criminal Operations Center in Lockport. Payments can also be made over the phone using a credit or debit card, but the name on the card MUST match the name on the warrant, and there is a 3% convenience charge for telephone payments.

Q: What will happen to the warrant?
A: The warrant will be “cleared” once fines, fees and cost are paid.

Q: My name is listed as having an active warrant, but I believe this information to be incorrect. How do I dispute this?
A: You must assist LPSO’s Warrant Officer by providing any information requested of you to research and determine whether the warrant is for you or another person with the same name. The type of information requested may consist of, but is not limited to, the following: date of birth, social security number, street and/or mailing address (past and present), etc.

Q: My name is on a warrant, but I paid the fines, fees and costs. What can I do?
A: You must provide a receipt, canceled check or any other form of documentation which can prove payment was previously made.

Q: If I have multiple warrants, and one or more do not have fines or fees indicated, will I be arrested on those warrants?
A: If you have one or more warrants without fines and fees, it is suggested that you make payments at either the South Lafourche Sub-station or the Detention Center. You may be eligible to receive a new court date under Article 211 of the Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure. This allows us to issue a summons to appear in court in lieu of booking you into jail. If the warrant in question is NOT eligible under Article 211, you will be allowed to pay fines and fees on your other warrants, and then you will need to be booked on the warrant which is not eligible for the amnesty program. You may bond out once booking is complete and the bond has been deteremined. Alternately, you would have the option to go to court the next business day to handle the warrant with the duty judge. If you do not attend court the next business day, you may be subject to immediate arrest on this warrant.
