Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is asking for the public’s help to identify a man who stole an elderly woman’s purse at a local department store on Thursday.

At around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, patrol deputies responded to the Walmart Supercenter located at 4858 Highway 1 in Raceland in reference to a purse snatching. Deputies learned an unidentified male had stolen an elderly woman’s purse, knocking her down in the process. Witnesses saw the man leave the store and enter a white, four-door sedan, which was parked behind the Lafourche Parish Government complex, with two other men inside the vehicle. The three men fled the scene in the car, eventually turning south onto LA Highway 1. An ambulance arrived on scene, but the victim declined to be transported for medical treatment.

Patrol deputies were unable to locate the suspects at that time, but they did obtain surveillance photos of the suspect fleeing the store. Anyone who can identify the suspect, or anyone with any information on this case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Bayou Region. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest. Tips can be submitted through any one of these methods:
