ROY TRAHAN: On July 2, detectives arrested Roy Trahan (W/M, D.O.B. 05/31/78) of 531 Marmande Street in Houma on warrants for Sexual Battery of a Child under the Age of 13 and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile stemming from an incident reported to the Sheriff’s Office on June 24, 2012. On that day, deputies responded to a call in reference to the possible molestation of a juvenile. Through investigation, detectives learned Trahan allegedly touched a juvenile victim inappropriately and exposed himself to the victim about a month prior. The juvenile victim was under the age of 13 years. Trahan was booked as per the warrants into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he remains in lieu of $50,000 bond. Further information concerning the victim’s age and gender is being withheld due to the nature of the offenses.
JEWANN BATISTE & JOSHUA HARRIS: Shortly after noon on July 2, patrol deputies responded to a daiquiri shop on LA Highway 20 in Thibodaux in reference to a possible burglary. While en route, deputies learned the suspects were seen heading toward Thibodaux on bicycles. As the deputy was traveling on LA-20, he spotted the suspects and stopped them. The subjects were identified as Jewann Batiste (B/M, D.O.B. 09/10/94) of 145 Constant Drive in Thibodaux and Joshua Harris (B/M, D.O.B. 09/06/94) of 109 Cypress Lane in Thibodaux and were detained for questioning in reference to the burglary. Detectives proceeded to the daiquiri shop, and through investigation, they discovered the suspects made entry through another business that was attached. Inside the neighboring business, they discovered the suspects had vandalized the office area, and they also recovered a hammer, a knife and a small axe. Batiste admitted these items were used in the burglary. Deputies also recovered over $150 in cash between the two suspects as well as a pack of cigarettes. Many of the bills had markings on them from customers that had visited the daiquiri shop, where a carton of cigarettes was also found to be empty. The estimated damage caused to the shop was approximately $2,500. Batiste and Harris were both transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and both booked on charges of Simple Burglary and Simple Criminal Damage to Property. They are currently being held in lieu of $20,000 bond each as set by Judge Jerome J. Barbera III. An additional hold was placed on Harris by the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole. Despite being only 17 years old, both have prior arrests in the past 10 months for similar criminal activity. Batiste was arrested in March for Simple Burglary and Contributing to the Delinquency of Juveniles, while Harris has been arrested for drug possession, theft of a motor vehicle and theft of a firearm.
