The victim notified deputies of the shooting by flagging down a patrol deputy as he was passing near the scene.

Detectives were called to the scene at approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Through investigation, they learned two male subject were standing outside a residence in the 100 block of Market Street in Raceland when a small white truck passed by. One of the men shouted at the truck, and a verbal argument ensued with the truck driver. Eventually, the driver sped away, but he returned about 10 minutes later. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Tylor Hotard, who also fit the description of the suspected shooter. Hotard was initially transported to the Criminal Operations Center in Lockport for questioning. After questioning, Hotard was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with assault by drive-by shooting and aggravated criminal damage to property.
