A Thibodaux man remains in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of $20,000 bond for attacking another man with a beer bottle. Lance Carter (B/M, DOB 6/14/1984, 467 Karla Drive, Thibodaux) is charged in connection with an incident that occurred shortly after midnight Thursday. When deputies arrived at Carter’s home, they found 45 year old James Butler with pieces of broken glass in hair. Carter admitted to hitting Butler in the head with a beer bottle because Butler was “playing punk games with him”. Carter is charged with Aggravated Battery (R.S. 14:34) and Simple Assault (R.S. 14:38).

A Houma man is behind bars charged with stealing nearly $2,000 and a rental car from a relative in Bayou Blue. Shortly after 5:00 AM Thursday deputies were dispatched to 109 Ozia Skyline where 24-year old Janelle Dupre advised deputies that Rendal Jennies (W/M, DOB 1/4/1983, 1615 St. Marie Drive, Houma) had stolen $1,800 in cash out of her purse and driven away in a gold Ford Taurus that she and her boyfriend had Jennies had rented. Deputies located the Taurus in a ditch at the corner of Meadowland Drive and Palmisano. Rendal Jennies was seen getting out of the car after crashing it and deputies were able to find him walking not too far from the scene. Jennies is charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (R.S. 14:68.4), Theft over $500 (R.S. 14:67) and driving while his license was suspended from a prior DWI charge. Judge Bruce Simpson set bond at $35,000 on all charges.

Shortly before 10:30 PM Thursday, deputies were dispatched to 113 West 225th Street in response to a reported burglary. There a Golden Meadow man explained watching a stranger walk across his driveway in the 20000 block of Hwy 1, take his clothes off, then walk to the front door of the home on West 225th. There the naked man began beating on the door so hard he broke glass. The deputy observed the man, later identified as Jeremy Musgrove (W/M, 9/28/1980, 259 West Fire Department Road, Lucedale, MS), trying to use his body to push against the door to get inside the home. Deputies smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Musgrove’s breath, he had difficulty keeping his balance and his speech was very slurred. Musgrove did not explain why he was trying to gain entry into the home. He was charged with Attempted Unauthorized Entry of a Dwelling (R.S. 14:27/62.3) and 14:56 Criminal Damage to Property. Musgrove was released after posting $2,000 bond set by Judge Bruce Simpson.
