Man Charged with Making Bad Batch of "Donuts" - Sgt. Lesley Hill Peters
A Cut Off man was arrested by State Police and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Saturday morning for tearing up two separate yards down the bayou while driving drunk. State Police were dispatched to a single car crash at Hwy 308 and East 74th Street shortly after 5:00 AM Saturday.
As deputies responded to offer assistance, they noticed deep tire ruts in the front yard of the Edison Chouest Offshore building at 16201 East Main Street in Galliano. Mud had been thrown so hard that it completely covered one side of the sign in front of the office building. Deputies followed tire and mud tracks from the scene to the location of a second round of tire ruts in the yard at 16055 East Main, and then to the crash site itself.
State Police charged Elie Blanchard (W/M, DOB 11/2/1981, 241 E. 69th St, Cut Off) with DWI (R.S. 14:98) and Failure to Control a Vehicle (R.S. 32:58). Deputies charged Blanchard with Reckless Operation of a Vehicle (R.S. 14:99) and Simple Criminal Damage to Property (R.S. 14:56). Blanchard was released on $750 bond.
