Vehicle Burglars Hit Business Parking Lots - Sgt. Lesley Hill
Sheriff Craig Webre is putting area businesses on alert that thieves are targeting vehicles in parking lots for access to items of value. Detectives are currently working three cases in the southern part of the parish where more than two dozen vehicles have been hit.
On Thursday, June 24th, employees at International Marine at 660 Industrial Park Road in Larose reported several vehicles in the parking lot had been broken into. Thieves entered vehicles by breaking windows and damaging door handles. Shortly before 7:00 AM Monday a call came in from Montco Offshore at 17741 Hwy 3235 in Galliano reporting more than a dozen vehicles targeted. Shortly before 9:00 PM Monday night, detectives were called to Crosby Tugs at 17771 Hwy 3235 where several more vehicles had been broken into in the same manner.
At this point, it is unclear what items were actually taken in the burglaries since the vehicle owners are currently working offshore. Anyone with information that could help detectives solve these cases is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-743-7433. You don’t have to give your name and could be eligible for a cash reward.
