| |
Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Houma man on heroin charges. Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish deputies working together on Thursday, July 22nd initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Justin Chauvin, Jr. (W/M, DOB 9/16/1982, 217 St. Pius Street, Houma) on Hwy 90 in Des Allemands shortly before 10:30 PM.
During the joint investigation, deputies located a metal spoon containing a brown substance believed to be heroin, two syringes (one loaded with suspected heroin) and a folded card containing approximately 3 grams of suspected heroin. The card being used as a “drug wrapper” was actually a reminder card for Chauvin’s upcoming appointment at an addictive disorders clinic.
Chauvin was arrested and charged with a headlight violation (R.S. 32:303A), possession of heroin (R.S. 40:966), possession of drug paraphernalia (R.S. 40:1023) and an outstanding arrest warrant out of Terrebonne Parish. Chauvin was also booked with possession of heroin in connection with a Lafourche Parish investigation in February of this year. He remains in jail in lieu of $35,300 bond as set by Judge John Leblanc and a hold placed on him by Terrebonne Parish.
