Sheriff Unveils "Unleash the Power" Initiative - Sgt. Lesley Hill Peters
 
Sheriff Craig Webre announced plans for the first of many special self-defense classes to be taught across the parish titled “Unleash the Power”. “These classes will contain some of the key components of our already successful RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) classes and much more,” said Webre. “We want to do what we can to help the women of this parish protect themselves in potentially dangerous situations,” he added.

The first class is scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Academy at 751 Goode Street in Thibodaux. The morning session will consist of defensive techniques and use of chemical spray. The afternoon session will cover the use of personal taser devices, complete with demonstration. The law and other information related to carrying a concealed handgun will also be covered.
