Services
ARE
YOU OKAY? Sheriff Craig Webre is pleased to
present a new program that enhances the quality of life for
many residents within the Lafourche Parish community.
"Are you ok?" is a telephone reassurance program
for older adults or adults with disabilities who live alone
or are at risk of sudden illness, falls, accidents, and
social isolation.
-
How
does the program work? When you answer the phone,
you will hear an automated voice that will say,
"Press any key to hear an important message from
the Lafourche Automated Notification System." At
this point you will have approximately 4 to 5 seconds to
hit a key on your phone to hear the message. By hitting
any key, you are signifying that "YOU ARE
OKAY." If you do not answer the phone, hit a key
upon answering the phone, or if your answering machine picks
up, the same message will be delivered to two additional
numbers that you provided. If one of the additional
numbers is to someone other than yourself, this person
is responsible for checking on you or contacting the
Sheriff's Office of a possible emergency.
-
Is
there any change for this service? No, this is a
free service provided by Sheriff Craig Webre, to help
enhance the quality of life for older adults and adults
with disabilities within the Lafourche Parish community.
-
Can
you choose what time I receive my call each day?
You have the option to receive your call in the morning,
afternoon, or evening. Morning calls will be delivered
from 8-10, afternoon calls from 2-4, and evening calls
from 6-8.
-
How
can you participate? Simply
contact Ms. Deanna Dufrene at the Lafourche Parish
Sheriff's Office Police Social Services Section at (985)
449-4477. She will explain the program to you and
arrange an enrollment meeting if you are interested. If
a meeting is not required, an application can be mailed to
you.
