State Assisted Work Release Program is a contractual agreement between the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office and the State Department of Corrections. Assignment to a work release center is a privilege, granted only after a careful screening process by the state Department of Corrections. Candidates must meet stringent guidelines for consideration in the program. Essentially, being a model prisoner. With release imminent, our work release center offers the inmate an opportunity to earn funds so as to assist in the transition to life outside of prison. A job also affords the inmate an opportunity to learn a skill, and to prepare for re-entering society. All inmates are aware that rules must be followed, and intentional abuse will lead to re-incarceration, and, in most cases, additional jail time.
