Arrest of Note: December 4, 2011

JODIE SAVOIE:
On Saturday, December 3, 2011, a Raceland restaurant received a food order over the internet totaling $838.09. When a restaurant worker called the contact’s cell phone number to confirm the order, a juvenile answered the phone and advised the order was real. The worker told the juvenile that someone would have to come into the restaurant to make a payment before the order could be fulfilled, and the juvenile hung up. A short time later, the worker received a text message stating the order was real and another message threatening to burn down the restaurant and kill everyone if the food was not prepared. Through investigation, deputies learned Jodie M. Savoie (W/F, D.O.B.02/08/79) of 7500 Highway 308 in Lockport had made the order and other additional fraudulent orders under someone else’s name. Savoie had coincidentally been arrested on an outstanding warrant on a Felony Theft charge Saturday evening, but had bonded out of jail already. Deputies then went to Savoie’s residence and arrested her upon her return. She was transported to the Criminal Operations Center in Lockport for questioning. During her interview with detectives, Savoie admitted to having made the threatening text message and food orders. She was then transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux and booked on charges of Communicating False Information of Planned Arson and Felony Theft by Fraud. She is currently being held in lieu of $105,000.00 bond as set by Judge Jerome J. Barbera, III. Savoie has a criminal history that includes three prison stays and 38 arrests, many of which are for a large number of related charges including Harassment, Terrorizing, and Obscene Talk on Phone involving telephone, e-mail and social network communications.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is encouraging any citizen that has been the victim of harassing or threatening phone calls, e-mails or other forms of communication to report those incidents to the Sheriff’s Office.
