Detectives Seeking Suspect in Raceland Armed Robbery

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre has announced that a reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of a man wanted for an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday evening in Raceland.

Deputies responded to 3970 Highway 1 in Raceland in reference to an armed robbery at Payday Loans of Raceland. At the close of business Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 5:00 P.M., witnesses say a black male suspect wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and gloves entered the business, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded cash. An employee handed the suspect a bag of cash, and he left the business in a dark-colored car headed northbound on LA Highway 1 with another black male subject driving the car.

The primary suspect is described as a middle-aged black male. Sheriff Webre is encouraging anyone with knowledge of this crime to come forward and report it to Bayou Region Crime Stoppers. Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest.
