Three Men Arrested for Armed Robbery of a Bayou Blue Home

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced detectives have arrested three men in connection with an early morning residential armed robbery on Monday. Desmond Kennedy (B/M, D.O.B. 09/07/89) of 1400 Martin Luther King Drive in Thibodaux, Kyle McMillian (B/M, D.O.B. 03/09/92) of 1115 Acadian Drive in Houma, and Antony Knockum (B/M, D.O.B. 06/09/93) of 212 Bentley Drive in Thibodaux have each been charged with armed robbery, home invasion and aggravated flight from an officer in the incident. Deputies are currently searching for a fourth subject that stole a vehicle from the residence during the incident.

At around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, deputies were responding to a report of a residential armed robbery in Bayou Blue when they spotted the suspects’’ vehicle turning from LA Highway 316 onto LA Highway 182 heading east. Upon spotting the deputies, the suspects accelerated and continued eastbound LA 182. Deputies followed and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver did not comply, and eventually turned north onto LA Highway 1. At the intersection of LA 1 and St. Charles Bypass Road, deputies deployed spike strips which successfully pierced the tires of the suspects’’ vehicle. The suspects continued northbound on LA 1 despite two tires being deflated. As the suspects attempted to turn west onto Audubon Drive in Thibodaux, the driver lost control of the vehicle and nearly struck a tree before the vehicle finally came to rest. Three men, later identified as Kennedy, McMillian, and Knockum, exited the vehicle and were taken into custody without further incident.

Through investigation at the residence on St. Marie Drive, detectives learned several people were at the home when the three men allegedly kicked in the front door and ordered everyone to the back of the residence. One suspect allegedly used a handgun to strike a victim in the head.

All three men were booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Each faces charges of armed robbery, use of a firearm in an armed robbery (LA RS 64.3), home invasion, and aggravated flight from an officer. McMillian and Knockum are being held in lieu of $200,000 bond as set by Judge John LeBlanc. Kennedy was additionally booked on outstanding warrants for two counts of theft and issuing worthless checks, and he is being held in lieu of $201,500 bond.

Detectives also learned a fourth subject left the scene in a vehicle stolen from the residence. That vehicle was later recovered when deputies found it parked at a residence on St. Patrick Drive in Schriever. The investigation is continuing as detectives are following up on several leads on the fourth subject.
