Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced detectives arrested a Thibodaux teenager for burglarizing vehicles while he was out on bond from an arrest in Terrebonne Parish. Malik Workman (B/M, D.O.B. 08/20/95) of 200 Winder Road was arrested on Thursday following an investigation into the incidents.
On Friday, May 10, during a severe thunderstorm, residents of Winder Road in Thibodaux reported seeing a male subject burglarizing several vehicles parked at residences. Through investigation, detectives and patrol deputies were able to develop Malik Workman as a suspect and obtained a positive identification from a witness. Detectives then obtained a warrant for Workmans arrest for two counts of simple burglary of a motor vehicle.
Detectives located Workman on Thursday, May 16, and placed him under arrest. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he is currently being held in lieu of $50,000 bond as set by Judge Ashly Bruce Simpson. Workman was out on bond for armed robbery and four other burglaries in Terrebonne Parish.
Once again, we have a prime example of neighbors helping neighbors, said Sheriff Webre. We encourage residents to continue to be vigilant in their communities and immediately report suspicious activity to law enforcement. As was the case here, the more timely the reporting, the more likely it is that we may be able to catch the suspect.
