Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a Highway Safety Checkpoint in Lafourche Parish during the daylight hours of Wednesday, August 27. Deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, expired inspection tags, expired/suspended driver's licenses, and other violations.
This checkpoint is part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office's year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.
A total of 108 vehicles passed through the last Highway Safety Checkpoint conducted on LA Highway 1 in Cut Off on Wednesday, August 20. During the checkpoint, deputies reported the following violations:
- 6 expired motor vehicle inspection stickers
- 1 seat belt violation
- 1 improper child restraint
