Suspect in 2005 Attempted Robbery Arrested While Paying Family Member’s Fine

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported a man wanted in connection to an attempted robbery which occurred nearly a decade ago was arrested on Friday when he showed up at the Sheriff’s Administrative Office to pay fines and costs for a family member’s warrant. Stewart Jasper Jr. (32, B/M) of Houma was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Attempted First Degree Robbery for an incident which occurred in March 2005.

On March 17, 2005, detectives began investigating an attempted robbery at a residence in the 300 block of Ozia Skyline Drive in Bayou Blue. They learned two men had entered the home and told the residents they were there to commit a robbery. One of the men had his hands inside his clothing giving the appearance he had a firearm. One of the residents had a firearm and chased the subjects out of the residence. Following a joint investigation with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, detectives learned Stewart Jasper Jr. and Troy Hebert had attempted to commit the robbery, and that Robert Poole Sr. and Robert Poole Jr. were principles to the crime. The Hebert and the Pooles were located and arrested in Terrebonne Parish. Hebert was charged with Attempted First Degree Robbery, and the Pooles were each charged with Principle to First Degree Robbery. Jasper could not be located at the time, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. After the warrant was issued, detectives continued to attempt to locate and make contact with Jasper but discovered he had possibly moved out of state.

Then on Friday, December 12, Jasper arrived at the LPSO Administrative Office at 200 Canal Boulevard in Thibodaux to pay fines and costs related to an outstanding Contempt of Court warrant of a family member stemming from a speeding violation. When the clerk entered Jasper’s name as the person paying the fines and costs, she noticed the outstanding warrant, and deputies took Jasper into custody without incident.

Jasper was transferred to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on the outstanding warrant for Attempted First Degree Robbery. He is currently being held in lieu of $50,000 bond as set by Judge Ashly Bruce Simpson via the 2005 warrant.
