RELEASED WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2015:

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Lockport Chief of Police Warren Vedros announced a total of six people now face charges due to their role in a February armed robbery in Lockport. James Bailey (55, B/M), Troy Benner (48, H/M), Jacky Manasco (45, W/M), Tommy Manasco (48, W/M), and Leon Froelich Jr. (40, W/M) have all been arrested and charged with Armed Robbery in the incident. Detectives say they now have an arrest warrant for a sixth person, Eugene Short (41, W/M), who they believe is the final suspect involved in the robbery.

Through investigation into the incident, detectives learned Jacky Manasco transported his brothers, Tommy Manasco and Troy Benner, along with James Bailey to a Lockport bar on the morning of February 2, 2015, and left the scene. Tommy Manasco, Benner, and Bailey remained at the bar, allegedly held a man up at gunpoint, and stole cash from the bar, along with a 2013 Ford Taurus parked outside.  The three men reunited with Jacky Manasco following the robbery, and he drove them away from the area after they abandoned the stolen car.

Detectives obtained warrants for all four men for Armed Robbery and arrested Jacky Manasco on February 24 with the assistance of the Kenner Police Department. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on February 25, and he was released on March 5 after posting $150,000 bond as set by Judge John E. LeBlanc.

A U.S. Marshals Task Force located and arrested Benner in Virginia in late February, and he was later extradited to Lafourche Parish on July 21. U.S. Marshals located Bailey in St. Bernard Parish, and he was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on March 9. Tommy Manasco was arrested during a traffic stop in St. Tammany Parish on March 21 and transferred to Lafourche Parish. All three remain in jail in lieu of $150,000 bond each as set by Judge LeBlanc.

Through further investigation, detectives discovered a fifth person, Leon Froelich Jr. of Metairie, allegedly acted as a lookout during the robbery. Detectives obtained a warrant for Froelich’s arrest, and he was arrested in Kenner on March 20. He was transported to Lafourche Parish and booked for Armed Robbery. He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bond as set by Judge Steven M. Miller, and he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole.

Detectives learned a sixth individual was also involved in the commission of the robbery as a lookout. In late July, following an extensive investigation, detectives identified the sixth suspect as Eugene Short of Des Allemands and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Short was found to be Troy Benner’s half-brother.

Short is a 41-year-old white male described as 5’8” tall and weighing approximately 240 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. His last known address was on Mark Street in Des Allemands.
